Get ready for WiDS Cambridge 2021!

We can't wait to see you (virtually) on March 11th.

This year, we have selected some exciting online platforms to ensure an engaging WiDS Cambridge 2021 experience. Below you will find some useful information about these platforms. Please read the information carefully and let us know if you have any questions. We also encourage you to sign up for and familiarize yourself with these platforms before March 11.

1. Zoom - All videos will be hosted live via Zoom. For optimized experience, please make sure to update the Zoom application on your devices to the latest version. A few days prior to the event, we will send you a Zoom link to access the conference.

2. Whova - Whova is an online app and web platform where you can find information for the event, including the agenda, a list of attendees, and speaker/panelist information. It's also a great tool for networking as Whova allows you to send direct messages and exchange contact information with other attendees. Please see the information on Whova above on how to register and use Whova. Whova is available to attendees 6 weeks prior to the event, and 10 months after March 11. We encourage attendees to use the app, as we hope that it will enrich your experience. To avoid missing out on messaging sent through Whova from the organizers and attendees, add Whova to your contacts and be sure to check spam.

3. Gather.town - the Poster Session, and the Career Development and Networking session, will take place via gather.town. Gather.town is an online platform that enables social interactions between conference attendees via video calls. Posters will be organized in a grid, similar to an in-person conference, and presenters will be available to discuss their work. Similarly, organizations will have a virtual booth set up and are ready to meet you and answer any of your questions.

Important - what you need:

  • A desktop/laptop with a mic and camera

  • A web browser (Chrome or Firefox recommended)

  • We strongly recommend using headphones to help prevent feedback

  • That’s it! There’s nothing to install, no software to download

You will receive instructions on how to log into the WiDS Cambridge 2021 gather.town a few days prior to the event.

4. We are committed to providing an environment that is accessible to individuals with disabilities. Along with live captioning, the main event livestream will feature American Sign Language (ASL).

Questions? Please let us know by replying to this email (wids-cambridge2021@mit.edu). A member of the WiDS Cambridge 2021 Organizing Committee will get back to you.

Best wishes,
